MALDI-TOF ICMS for Microbial Characterisation and Identification
Workshop
13 May 2009
The Micoteca da Universidade do Minho (MUM) - www.micoteca.deb.uminho.pt - is a fungal culture collection held in the Biological Engineering Centre of the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal. One of our aims is to give our researchers and post-graduate students exchange experience with other national and international groups. MUM believes firmly in an open exchange of ideas and work.
Consequently, MUM has organised recently meetings, workshops and advanced courses in mycology. This year we announce a one-day Workshop – MALDI-TOF Intact Cell Mass Spectrometry for Microbial Characterisation and Identification - with the participation of our new mycological service laboratories, MycoTec-Labs and our German collaborators, AnagnosTec mbH - www.anagnostec.de. This event will promote contact between the participants of the MALDI-SARAMIS meeting. This is an informal international expert group working with MALDI-TOF and the Spectral Archive And Microbial Identifications System (SARAMIS) database. Those involved with microbial culture collections will also attend the Global Biological Resources Centres Network (GBRCN) conference. Hence we will hold the meetings “back-to-back”. We are pleased to have speakers who are recognised authorities internationally in MALDI-TOF and related topics. The utility of MALDI-TOF to biological resource collections will be explored fully as a major goal of the seminars.
Other participants are invited to submit posters on these topics to be presented during the meeting. The abstracts must be submitted via e-mail to the Secretariat before 24th April and notifications of acceptance will be sent by 30th April 2009.
The organisers wish to welcome you to our one-day Workshop and we look forward to seeing you all in May in Portugal.
